FanX 2024

Image
When I was a kid, my mom always told me that I wasn’t allowed to buy overly graphic tees because “you’ll look like someone who goes to Comic Con.”  …Anyway, I’m now someone who goes to Comic Con. I've been going to FanX annually for quite a few years now and I kinda want to try for SDCC.  Just a quick recap of FanX today. I lifted for about 15 minutes in the morning and then ran 13.1 miles in Provo Canyon. After that, we boarded the FrontRunner to head to SLC. I did some quick MVP work for all my pursuits on the FrontRunner.  We checked in and then I got some corn dogs from the Fry Me to the Moon food truck. After that, we went to the Terminator panel. I have never seen the Terminator, so I mostly just read some more of Harrow Faire on my Kindle app. I actually finished the 3rd book, Clown, and bought the 4th one, Ringmaster, while we were sitting there. (Not to be confused with the Ringmaster in Carnivile) Then we browsed some art and I made notes of different artists I was consid

Winco sucks

I walked in there because it was close by, just thinking it was a random grocery store. I get to purchasing and apparently they don’t accept credit cards? Wtf? I’ve never heard of a store doing that. I didn’t have my debit with me because I haven’t activated my replacement after my previous one got jacked up.  I’m never shopping there again.  On the bright side, FanX today was a blast.

Utah State Fair 2024

I'm going on Saturday after waterslides at Cherry Hill. First day of the fair is today! Looks like the rides will be from the Mighty Thomas Carnival again as well as Armco Thrill Company again. Life is full of surprises, and the Utah State Fair has exactly 0 of them.  I'll park at one of the sketchy ghetto city parks in Fairpark, SLC, and walk to the fair on one of the sketchy ghetto Jordan River bike paths with a bunch of hobos sleeping and teenagers smoking marijuana leaves and drinking alcoholic beverages because I ain't paying for parking.  It will be a very sweaty experience. I think 92F is the high.  If I get there around 1 or 2 pm, I expect short ride lines and long food lines. I did not see any mention of Armco's KMG speed on the fair's rides page, so hopefully it is just an error, but it's possible that the Speed is loaned elsewhere or is out of commission.  So no new coaster credits until Snowbird in 2 weeks. I'll ride the Ring of Fire, Black Out,

Before next Memorial Day Friday...

May 23, 2025. I have to focus on this, so I keep my emotional state afloat throughout the dark time of year.  This summer has been amazing. But I can make the next one even better by combining passion productivity with throwing myself headlong into summer activities.  I do like the fall season a lot, but the transition from summer to fall is not so easy for me.  So by the time summer 2025 arrives, I'll be at core competency and ready to move states whenever.  Also: My art will be at an advanced level and I’ll be producing work and projects regularly. My visualization skills will be powerful, especially of the human figure, and I'll have a good portfolio and reel.  My writing will be at a point where I am ready to submit to publishers and I’ll rarely miss a weekly submission. Similarly, I'll restart reviewing, writing, and reading on serebii. I'll be up to date on my series thst I enjoy reading too.  I’ll have a huge coding portfolio, a redesigned website, an upgraded PC
