If it's a non-smoking apartment, then DON'T SMOKE!
I'm asthmatic. So obviously I'm going to sign up for an apartment where smoking isn't allowed, like my current complex. It seems to have done nothing to stop the people living below me from smoking all the time. Now, I believe in letting people make their own choices. I'm not on a moral crusade against anything, nor am I trying to outlaw anything. I don't care what other people do or partake in, so long as it isn't harming others. I just want to be able to breathe normal, clean air when I signed up for an apartment complex that does not allow smoking. When you specifically sign up for an apartment contract for a private business that explicitly says "we are a smoke-free environment", and then you smoke and fill my bedroom with it and make me cough, that is not okay. It is harming others, because it's secondhand smoke.
I'm currently blasting two fans and periodically spraying air freshener. The weed smell is super strong. Also wearing my thickest covid mask, which is hilarious because I hate the stupid things. This is getting out of control. I've sent multiple emails to my apartment complex. I really hope they do something about it. At least do an inspection, dang.
