I hate summer thunderstorms and summer rain
It's vent time again! Look at all those partly cloudy days in the forecast, and the thunderstorms as well...
This was not how last summer was, barring a few days here or there. I can't find my old screenshots, but I remember looking and seeing days of nothing but sunny skies.
I'm really starting to get tired of the Utah weather. Winter = cold, dark, cloudy, snowy, depressing. Autumn = a few pretty sunny days at the very beginning, but ultimately devolving into endless fog, RAIN, clouds, and gloom. Spring = some beautiful days interspersed with RAIN and CLOUDS and then even more rain and more clouds.
The last few summers have been beautiful. I can only think of 2 summer thunderstorms that happened in 2020. They were both in July. One of them caused me to get rained on during a carnival trip, and the other screwed up my Cowabunga Bay trip (though I ended up being able to go a few weeks later). But the rest of the time was beautiful, hot, sunny weather. Gorgeous blue skies without a single cloud in the sky, or with only a scattering of light, puffy cumulus clouds.
And for some reason, this summer we have had a crapload of thunderstorms. Almost every single day, especially this July, instead of waking up to beautiful blue skies, I wake up to storm clouds, dust-scattering winds, and the rumble of thunder in the distance. It especially sucks when I get off work and a storm rolls in so I can't go to water parks.
No, I'm not afraid of thunderstorms. When you google "I hate thunderstorms", you come up with a bunch of articles written by people who are afraid of them. I'm not, though maybe I would be if I lived in Tornado Alley. I just hate them. Utah has a dark and cloudy autumn, a dark and cloudy winter, and a dark and cloudy spring with some nice days. Well, it looks like this summer is going to be the same as the spring. It's 4 PM and I have my lights on already, as though it were November. I will miss those endless blue skies of previous summers. I think I need to move somewhere where rain and clouds are virtually nonexistent. But I don't know where that would be (Florida and Texas have storms daily in the summer; California has June Gloom, Arizona only has 1 theme park and it's tiny).
Here are some more photos of this gloomy, dreary weather on my walk today. We have weather like this all October and November. Why can't we have endless days of light and sun like our last few summers?
