You know what would be awesome...

What I really need --

-- a few free years. No work, no school, or anything like that. Just money flowing in somehow (this is a hypothetical, obviously).

I'm not going to get that though, not unless one of my creative projects takes off like crazy (hence my First Day of June core competency project).

I would spend my mornings exercising, lifting weights and then driving to a park or bike path to run. I would do speed work, recovery runs, hill training, tempo...pretty much anything to push my fitness and speed to the next level. I'm tired of being slow.

Then, I would transition into art. I would draw, do digital painting, animate, and do 3D art. I would have art projects, commissions, maybe some webcomics/visual novels/video games in progress.

After spending a few hours on art, I would do coding, maybe some app development, or websites for people who would pay me. I would also self-study physics, mathematics, engineering, and astronomy. Of course, a few walks in some beautiful parks would be necessary after that.

Then, it would be time to write! I would spend the early evening writing. Mostly I would work on my novels, but also poetry and fanfiction.

In the evening, I would watch through some animes and cartoons, read and game, daydream, listen to music...just explore other worlds as much as possible. Plus, 30 minutes of either clarinet, piano, or singing at dinner.

Saturday nights would be spent at the movie theater or arcade, learning hacking, or screwing around in cyberspace. Or going to the rec center. And I would always be working on theme park ride ideas.

This is in the winter. During the summer, I would spend my days riding roller coasters and water slides, plus going to the zoo. I would still learn art, coding, writing, and math, but it would be a bit more condensed, or I would just have a few set days off to screw around.

No deadlines other than my own. I would still push myself to excel, but I wouldn't have to cut anything in order to finish things on time.

I did sort of do this when I got laid off at Sling and hadn't started grad school yet, but it was only for a few months.

In reality, this is possible even with a full-time job. It's just not as easy, and you have to do a somewhat condensed version of it. But it's possible. It's a LOT harder when you have both work AND homework AND classes to attend. But I will do everything I can to approach this goal.

It's always funny when people think I'm doing well just because I have a college degree, a job, and get some form of exercise in. Like...that's the bare minimum. I want to be doing so much more than that. Also, my finances are jacked because I only make $17.50/hour at BYU for web dev and I have the spending habits of a rich French lady. Not to mention horrendous impulse control. I need a better paying job, and I need it ASAP.

Anyway, gotta finish an IRB review, so I should probably get off this blog.
