2022: Finished media so far
So far, in 2022 I have completed the following books:
- Everest: Triumph and Tragedy on the World's Highest Peak, by Matt Dickinson. Once more, my completely nonexistent dream of climbing Everest remains completely nonexistent as I am once again reminded of how dangerous it is. However, the technology, physical prowess, and history behind it are, as always, fascinating to me.
- The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, A New History of a Lost World, by Steve Brusatte. Great work of creative, scientific nonfiction by a skilled paleontologist! Looks like he has another book about the rise of mammals, which should be interesting, because sabers. :O
- Primary Inversion, by Catherine Asaro. My second read-through, with a more solid mathematical grounding this time. I loved it from start to finish. I love the combination of logic and science with emotion and feeling which Asaro nails every time. I wish we could've spent a bit more time with Jarith, but Jaibriol and Soz have great chemistry.
- Light and Shadow, by Catherine Asaro. I really felt Kelric's pain in this short little story. His sadness is explored through spaceflight and physics. And the computer, Glint, is a heartwarming thing.
I have also completed the following movies:
- Encanto. Excellent from start to finish, though there were a few plot holes. Surface Pressure is an absolute jam.
- Sonic 2. I did not play Sonic as a child, as my video game time was extremely limited, so I only ever played Pokemon and RollerCoaster Tycoon. However, I loved this movie because 1) Tails was adorable, with his zany little inventions, and 2) Hawaii. I love Hawaii. Oh and the pissed-off bride was HILARIOUS and also, MOOD.
- The Bad Guys. DreamWorks always makes such lovable characters. I loved Mr. Wolf, and I loved Diane too. I really hope they become an official couple in a sequel, though we all know how well animated sequels usually end up becoming. But it would be so cute. At any rate, this is one of my favorite movies now. Also, Snake is awesome. And the hacker tarantula! :D SO COOL. Shark is fun and well, Piranha guy was nice too, though his only real gimmick was being gassy (thanks, DreamWorks lol). And DreamWorks' strange tendency to have a rock concert in pretty much every film is kinda weird (except for when it was the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2 singing "I Need A Hero", that was spicy af, like zoo-wee-mama. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I am so sorry (but also not really)).
I have finished the following shows:
- Bojack Horseman. This show helped me a lot with my mental health issues, and I am really grateful for it. I wish some things towards the end had gone a little differently, but it's a great -- albeit intense -- show from start to finish.
Well, time to keep chipping away at that queue.
