Making time
I watch some Nick Bare videos from time to time. One of them really stuck with me because it helped me to understand something that didn't make sense to me for most of my life until now.
I never understood what people meant when they said "you have to make time." Like, what does that even mean?
Turns out, it just means scheduling in advance and committing to what you've scheduled. That's it.
Instead of reactive planning, where you try to "fit everything in" and then suddenly it's the end of the day and you haven't done half of the stuff you wanted to.
Yesterday I 100% ran out of time. I ended up working late due to being stuck on a major bug (and figured I could use that to leave early on Thursday anyway). That was worth it I feel, even though it is very rare for me, but then I got completely thrown off the rest of the day. Because I did not make time for everything.
So, how am I going to do that today? I also have to make up for the sessions I missed. I did do the two-minute rule for everything, at least.
Taken care of during work: Languages (midmorning break), music (lunch break), the last bit of reading for my writing group (lunch break).
After work: I need to run 3 more miles, clean my room (mostly vacuuming), start packing, put up Christmas decor, and eat dinner while watching an episode of Pokemon. Then, I will shower.
I bet that'll take me from 4 to 5:30, and even that might be hard, but I'll try.
Then, I still need to do the following: digital art, reading/writing, programming, engineering, meditation, gaming, nightly planning, and physical therapy with a show.
What can't be multitasked during writing group well: meditation, gaming, physical therapy. So those will happen first, as much as I hate going out of order. That should take me until 6:30. After that, I will need to do digital art, which would be 6:30 - 7:30 (bleeding into writing group unfortunately). Reading and writing should go from 7:30 to 8, then we have coding, engineering, and nightly planning which is going to have to be until 8:20. I will have a hard cutoff of 8:20 PM in order to make sure I can get to bed by 9 PM. Even then, might be closer to 9:15, but it is what it is. Since the technical block is so short tonight, I will probably watch some coding, EE, or IT videos while on the treadmill.
In fact, let's go with edX EE on the treadmill. I'll get through at least one lesson that way. And maybe some PLC stuff.
Perfect? Well, not really. But it's the best I can do.
