The "am I going to swim at my apartment's pool or not?" thought process

1. Is it later than 10:30 AM? If so, it will be filled with children and their parents. So, nope.  2. Is it earlier than 9 AM? It doesn't open until 9 AM despite the fact that there is no lifeguard on duty, and most people have work at 9 AM. So, nope.  3. Is it between 9 AM and 9:30 AM? Someone will be cleaning it, so the gate will be locked, and they will just ignore you as you repeatedly scan your key wondering why it's lighting up green but not letting you in. Thus it really  doesn't open until like 9:45 AM, maybe. So, nope.  4. Is it 9:45-9:50 AM? Well, you can walk all the way down there, to see if it's done being cleaned yet. But even if it's done being cleaned, someone else will probably be in there swimming, and it's not a big pool. So again, nope.  This is why I hardly ever go, even though it's a very nice pool. I haven't been this whole summer though, and I'd like to go at least once.  There needs to be some sort of way of checking online ...

Months ranked again

Disclaimer, yes I know that this blog has some autumnal things, including the banner. I love the aesthetic and spookiness of it, but I still prefer summertime when it comes to actually existing. I'm redoing it because this spring was nasty! This is just a brain-dump so nothing professional-sounding; I'll do that some other time. Once I'm back in California though it won't really matter.  I live in Utah near SLC for school. I will be moving back home to Southern California next year and you will see why based on my rankings: 12.  February. Gross, cold, muddy, wet, brown snow everywhere, slipping on the ice, and a reminder on the 14th that you will die alone. I am going to burn this entire universe to the ground.  11. January. Gross, cold, muddy, wet, depressing, snowy, icy, but at least you don't have to do anything for the first week. No birdsong, just despair. Would be a shame if I slipped on the ice and broke my arm, and this is a fear I have every time I want to ...

Why I try to get up and run so early

1) I have ADHD and am always, I repeat ALWAYS 15-30 minutes behind. So I NEED that buffer.  2) I am serious about both running and weight lifting and I will not compromise on EITHER.  3) The traffic starts to suck around 7:15 am because of kids going to school. You get stuck behind buses and long queues of people.  4) The later you go, the more people there are at the park. The more people there are, the more angry off-leash dogs there are.  This is  just a reminder to myself to not let people's "oh you don't have to work this week so you should sleep in!" crap get to me. No, no, no, no. It screws up everything.

New cleaning paradigm

I'm behind.  Like, REALLY behind.  Like, the things I'm working on now should've been completed in 2020 behind.  But I'm not a robot. I need time to recreate too.  So it's beyond frustrating wasting hours to mindless maintenance tasks. Laundry, groceries, cleaning... Cleaning made my Saturdays suck. Long run, water park...then I'd be too tired to clean. It would take hours. This is why I'm so behind on my work.  So. 10 minutes a day instead. Let's try it.

Song quote of the day.

"They call me Atlantic, because I'm dark and I'm blue."  ~ I Hate This Place, Sky and Sea I need this quote on my bio somewhere.

More thunderstorms this weekend.

Yup. When there's only a few weeks left to enjoy sunshine, warmth, and playing in the water before months of cold and darkness, isn't it great to have that taken away from you by yet ANOTHER round of WEEKEND thunderstorms? Not like they could've come during the week when I was at work or anything... I cannot take this place's weather anymore. It's awful.

Why are people so weirded out by solo travel, and even solo day trips?

In February 2020, I went with a group of friends (as well as people I didn't know) to Disneyland. It was one of the best weeks of my life.  I also didn't stay with them overnight. I got my own one-person room, in the Hilton Anaheim. Best sleep I've ever had, even though I was only getting 4 hours a night, because DISNEY, obviously. That king-sized mattress felt like sleeping on a cloud.  I also didn't travel there with them. They road-tripped down. I flew. I like road-tripping, but I have to use the restroom a lot more than the average person. I don't have any reason for this other than a) my anxiety disorders, and b) my body just works this way. I'm not diabetic or anything -- it's just biological variability.  Plus, I had to work a lot, because I had only a few vacation days accumulated. So, I flew via Delta.  It was one of the best weekends of my life.  And I couldn't have done it if I hadn't done TONS of solo days trips to Lagoon, Hogle Zoo, the ...
