Fall fairs are fun and all, but…
…they only last for a month. Same with the buildup to Halloween and such. My spooky decor is up (though it ain’t much) and I’m excited, but Halloween is really the last hurrah before everything starts sucking.
The good part of fall is basically September and like 3 weeks in October. And September is annoying because it’s still hot but all the water parks are closed. I normally love hot weather but not if I can’t cool off at a pool or water park! And by Halloween, it’s probably going to start snowing. Gross.
I want my summer back. Endless blue skies, 95 degree days, 9:30 PM sunsets, sprinklers casting rainbows across the parks, standing under a water umbrella and smelling the chlorine and watching the sunlight stream through the wall of water all around you.
Now, every day is slightly colder, shorter, and darker than the last. My tan is slowly fading, I’m slowly having to run with more and more clothing, I have to wear a headlamp for my early morning runs, we only have a month remaining to ride roller coasters before the cold and snow shuts everything down, it oscillates between AC and heating temperatures constantly, and water parks are already a distant memory. There are still flowers and leaves on the trees, but soon they will be dead. I know that I can make it through this coming winter as I always have, but it’s going to be rough. My mood is slowly slipping into the abyss. I need to really focus on my art, coding, writing, and mathematics.
Basically, we are heading towards winter. And the only people who are psycho enough to actually like it are either snow sports enthusiasts or asocial homebodies who want a socially acceptable excuse to not leave their house.
That said, there are many nice things about this season. Cornfields, scary books and movies, fall fairs, creepy music, Reese’s pumpkins and ghosts, autumn foliage, dark art, Inktober, and theme park haunt events. Of course, it’ll all be dead and gone by November, but you know, whatever.
But hey, I guess it’s time to buckle down and get stuff DONE so I can enjoy next summer even more.
