r/HybridAthlete is wimpy
Granted maybe they're all more ripped than I am, but I am working on it. :p
It's not going to kill you to run 6 days a week and lift 6 days a week. It's not going to kill you to run the day after leg day. Or the day of. Or right after lifting without a long break in between (I take maybe a 5-minute break and then just go straight into my run). And it's not going to kill you to lift before a long run. I've never had issues with any of that as long as I do my nightly, 15-minute injury prevention routine while watching cartoons. I've been doing this for years, no issues. I do not have superior genetics in any form. I was the slow kid in high school XC. I used to get injured all the time until I added in the nightly prevention routine.
And no, tracking your macros isn't hard either. It's actually way easier than trying to "just eat clean braaaaaaah."
I'm not sure how this take is revolutionary. This training schedule is not difficult to do, though it is obviously hard to fit in with the constraints of everyday life. That part, I 100% get.
Also, half of that community is constantly whining about Nick Bare for some reason, and the other half is perpetuating the exact same myths that cause people to even research hybrid athletics in the first place (i.e. OMG if you want to Boston Qualify you need to stop lifting so much weights!!!11!! or omg long runs KILL GAINZZZZ BRAH!!!!)
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll keep my 6-day lifting/running/stretching split and rest on Sundays, plus if I feel an injury coming on. r/HybridAthlete should just be renamed r/MakingExcuses. Weak. Your ancestors look down upon you with shame.
This is like when people say "OMG how do you expect to BQ when you ran a 3:34 for your first marathon!" we didn't all come out of the womb running 2:40 maras, Susan. It's called improvement, maybe you should look into it. 2:50 mara while muscular isn't some genetic anomaly thing that only 10 people in the world can do.
Every time I think I should check that community, instant regret.
