I am once again asking why people care about masculinity/femininity

because:

  • masculinity and femininity are social constructs. underneath, there is no actual logic.
  • I do not understand why certain people NEED gender norms, and adherence to them, to be a thing.
  • I prefer to believe in theism/God because I prefer to believe in life after death. believing that you should be manly gives what benefit? greater...stress in your life? greater divergence from your actual goals? because you are spending mental and emotional energy on something so meaningless?
  • I understand trying to become more attractive physically to others; it's why I work out, but I still don't particularly care if I am seen as "manly" or not.
to me, deciding whether you are performing either of these listed characteristics is like asking whether or not you are acting sufficiently like an elephant. it is an arbitrary set of societally-chosen attributes, like a house that is built upon a foundation of air. if you drill down into these people and what the actual logic is, they immediately start contriving some sort of weird post-apocalyptic or natural-disaster type scenario in which gender roles are needed for some bizarre reason, when in reality what is actually needed is division of essential tasks, which probably has a loose correlation with abilities such as general athleticism, strength, wit, common sense, and speed.

whether or not these abilities correlate with either sex is irrelevant. if you were actually in that extreme of a scenario, people would likely just...rise to the roles needed.

it simply does not make any sense. foundation made of air.

FACT: whether or not you are adhering to an arbitrarily-defined and arbitrarily-imposed set of characteristics that was pulled out of the aether of society is a waste of time and energy. screw the rules, focus on science. or literally anything else other than whether or not some random people are going to approve of you.

as someone who solo-travels to theme parks and zoos pretty much every weekend: no one cares. no one has cared since middle school, maybe high school. and no one is ever going to care. just do what you want.
